The world’s richest man, Jeff Bezos, and his wife MacKenzie have settled a record-breaking divorce agreement of at least $35bn.
Ms Bezos is said to keeps a 4% stake in the online retail giant, worth $35.6bn on its own.Jeff Bezos started Amazon in Seattle in 1994AD, a year after the couple’s marriage.
Further information on the financial distribution between the ex couple has not been provided.
Although divorced there still seems to be respect between the two.
According to FORBES the income from Amazon alone will make Ms MacKenzie the 3rd most richest women in the world.
The couple married in 1993, have had 4 children.
Ms Bezos in her microblogging website stated that she was “grateful to have finished the process of dissolving my marriage to Jeff with support from each other”.
Mr Bezos tweeted: “I’m so grateful to all my friends and family for reaching out with encouragement and love… MacKenzie most of all.”
The tweet ended with: “She is resourceful and brilliant and loving, and as our futures unroll, I know I’ll always be learning from her.”
Mr Bezos before hand held a 16.3% stake in Amazon. He will retain 75% of that holding and Ms Bezos has transferred all of her voting rights to her former husband.
Mr Bezos is reportedly in a relationship with former Fox TV host Lauren Sánchez.
She will also give up her interests in the Washington Post newspaper and Mr Bezos’ space travel firm Blue Origin.
Last year, Amazon generated sales of $232b and it has helped Mr Bezos and his family held a fortune of $131b, according to Forbes magazine.
Details, including private messages, of an extramarital affair with Ms Sánchez were published by a US tabloid magazine.
Due to the fact Mr bezos accused the publisher of the particular magazine of blackmailing which was denied by the publiher.
